Key Responsibilities: Create, modify, and analyze 2D and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software. Develop and test prototypes to evaluate design feasibility, structural integrity, and performance. Conduct load and fatigue analysis using ANSYS software, particularly for modified crane structures and other heavy-duty applications. Develop detailed fabrication drawings for modified and new structural components. Collaborate with vendors and fabrication teams to ensure accurate and timely production of designed structures. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and production teams to meet project requirements and ensure functionality. Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation including engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications. Apply engineering principles, materials knowledge, and manufacturing techniques to optimize designs for cost-efficiency, performance, and durability. Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and deliver presentations on engineering activities and design progress. Support the engineering team in problem-solving, offering innovative solutions and technical insights during design and development phases. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum [2+] years of experience in a mechanical or structural design engineering role. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Experience with FEA tools, especially ANSYS, for structural/load and fatigue analysis. Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural systems, fabrication processes, and materials. Experience creating fabrication drawings and working with external vendors or manufacturing partners. Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM), industry standards, and quality assurance practices. Prior experience with port machinery modification design work is preferred as a plus.
