We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chromatography Analyst to join our Failure Analysis team. The team is responsible for root cause failure analysis across all Apple Hardware products and advanced material characterisation for guiding design and process changes.
Description
In this role, you will use advanced chromatographic techniques to investigate and determine the root cause of product and material failures. You will be responsible for separating, identifying, and quantifying chemical compounds in failed materials, contaminants, and production samples. You will be collaborating with cross functional teams to determine the root cause of product failure and recommend corrective actions. You will have the opportunity to be creative and use your engineering and scientific knowledge to solve complex problems and present the findings to global teams and executives.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related discipline
5+ years of hands-on experience with advanced chromatography techniques (GC, IC, LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) in consumer electronics failure analysis
Develop, validate, and optimize new analytical methods for the identification of contaminants, degradation products, and unknown substances related to failure investigations
Familiarity with related analytical techniques, such as FTIR, SEM/EDX
Experience in technically mentoring and managing Jr. Engineers and / or technicians
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related discipline.
5+ years of hands-on experience with advanced chromatography techniques (GC, IC, LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS).
Strong fundamental knowledge of chromatographic principles and separation science. Analyse and interpret complex chromatographic data (e.g., chromatograms and mass spectra), drawing conclusions about the chemical composition and its relationship to the product failure.
Meticulous approach to sample handling, data collection, and documentation.
Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation and conduct routine calibration to ensure accurate and reliable data.
Creating comprehensive technical reports with crisp and concise data for presenting to cross-functional teams
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Strong aptitude for problem solving and can do attitude
Ability to communicate complex technical information in a simple, concise manner
Adaptability to fast changing environment and scope of work to meet business needs
Ability to prioritise and juggle multiple high priority tasks at the same time
Willing to collaborate closely across organisations
Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
