How will you make an impact in this role? The American Express Global Privacy Office are trusted advisors on the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles. We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance towards internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand. As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company s vision to provide the world s best customer experience every day. This position, based in India, reports to the Manager, APAC Privacy. The successful candidate must be passionate about privacy, with subject matter expertise covering privacy regulation across the APAC region. The candidate shall support the Manager in effectively deploying an effective working knowledge of risk and control practices to support the business in achieving objectives alongside privacy risk management goals. Key Responsibilities Support ongoing APAC region privacy oversight activities globally, including but not limited to New Product Approval (NPA) process, Third Party Lifecycle Management (TLM) enquiries, and Privacy Risk Assessment (PRA) Assists in ensuring day to day operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and company policies. Participates in privacy reviews of business units. Coordinate privacy oversight process at legal entity level, collaborating with GPO s Privacy Programme team and BU Privacy Relationship Leads. Preparing decks on status of compliance with Privacy matters Ensure accurate reporting of privacy-related key metrics including but not limited to Complaints, Operational Risk Events (OREs), Enterprise Incident Response Program (EIRP) alerts, International Compliance Testing (ICT), Regulatory Change Management (RCMs), PRAs, Regulatory Investigations, etc, impacting the APAC region, ensuring privacy risk is accurately described and categorized by the business. Foster a culture of privacy at American Express by advocating for privacy-by-design, integration of the American Express Data Minimum Qualifications Minimum 5+ years experience in a Risk Management Compliance/ Audit role in a highly regulated domain or relevant experience in consultancy within the Big Four or in a bank/financial institution background. Fair knowledge of Privacy Laws and practices Ability to operate multi-nationally with business partners High standard of integrity Strong computer knowledge; excellent MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills, Tableau etc. Must be self-motivated, dependable, adaptable and detail oriented with a proven ability to work independently or within a team environment. Knowledge of operational risk concepts and requirements with an emphasis on privacy. Familiarity with APAC Privacy-related current affairs and best practices. Strong analytical capabilities. Strong presentation skills, particularly in the development of professional and thoughtful materials. Highly organized and strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Preferably CA/CS/LLB/CAMS/CIA/MBA. Privacy certification (e. g. CIPP, CIPM).
