Orbitt Space is in the process of developing sustainable satellite platforms that utilize cutting-edge electric propulsion technology to support long-duration missions in Ultra Low Earth Orbit (ULEO). As a Power Electronics R&D Engineer at Orbitt Space, you will play a crucial role within our core engineering team. Your primary responsibilities will involve designing high-efficiency, high-voltage DC-DC converters and overseeing the development of the Power Processing Unit (PPU) for our proprietary propulsion system. This includes tasks ranging from initial concept creation to testing under space-grade conditions. In this role, you will be expected to: - Design, simulate, and test high-voltage (up to 2kV), high-power (1kW+) DC-DC converters tailored for space applications. - Take charge of schematic design, PCB layout (using tools such as Altium, Cadstar, or Allegro), and prototyping. - Implement effective thermal and EMI/EMC strategies to ensure optimal converter performance and reliability. - Develop control systems for both digital and analog regulation of power electronics. - Validate and qualify systems to meet the demanding requirements of extreme environments and space standards. - Engage in collaborative efforts with propulsion, embedded systems, and integration teams to achieve project goals successfully. Ideal candidates for this position should possess: - ME/MTech/PhD in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering. - At least 3-4 years of experience in the design of high-voltage, high-efficiency converters. - Proficiency with tools like Altium, Cadstar, Allegro, or similar software. - A strong understanding of hard/soft switching topologies. - Hands-on experience with PCB layout, thermal management, EMI/EMC considerations, and lab testing. - Knowledge of space/aerospace-grade electronics would be advantageous. - A deep interest in space technology and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
