The ideal candidate should bring 58 years of overall experience in software engineering, including 24 years of focused expertise in Data Governance practices such as data cataloguing, data lineage, data quality, data purging, data reliability, and data accessibility . Hands-on experience with Data Governance tools is essential, with preference given to those familiar with Ab Initio (preferred), Informatica, Talend, Atlan, Databricks, or Snowflake. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required to engage effectively with business and application stakeholders across L&T Finance. PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Experienced Data Governance Lead with a strong foundation in software engineering and proven expertise in establishing enterprise-grade data governance practices, including data cataloging, lineage, quality, and accessibility. Skilled in tools like Ab Initio (Preferred), Informatica, and Snowflake, with a track record of effective collaboration across business and technology teams. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Define and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks and policies. 2. Establish and manage data cataloguing, lineage, quality, and metadata standards. 3. Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and translate data governance requirements. 4. Ensure data compliance with RBI and Indian regulatory norms (e.g., Aadhaar, CKYC, credit bureau norms). 5. Drive data classification and access control in line with internal security and compliance needs. 6. Identify and document business data definitions and ownership. 7. Coordinate with data engineering teams to embed governance rules into data pipelines. 8. Lead periodic data quality assessments and remediation plans. 9. Maintain a central inventory of critical data assets across the NBFC. 10. Guide adoption and optimization of data governance tools like Ab Initio (Preferred), Informatica, Atlan, or Snowflake. 11. Define roles and responsibilities for data stewards and custodians. 12. Train and evangelize data governance practices across departments. 13. Support audit and compliance reporting through accurate data lineage and usage logs. 14. Ensure business continuity with proper data backup, archival, and purging strategies. 15. Align governance goals with broader digital transformation and analytics strategies. TECHNICAL SKILLS 1.) Technical Skills: Strong experience with data governance tools (e.g., Ab Initio (preferred) , Informatica , Atlan , Collibra , Snowflake , or Databricks ). Hands-on knowledge of data cataloguing , data lineage , data quality , and data access control . Understanding of Indian regulatory compliance standards (e.g., RBI guidelines , CKYC , Aadhaar , credit bureau data usage ). Familiarity with data modelling , metadata management , and ETL/ELT pipelines . Proficient in querying and validating data using SQL or similar languages. Experience working in or with data warehouse environments like BigQuery , or GCP-based lakes . Shell Scripting, Python, JSON, Java 8 & above, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GCP, Debugging skills, Design. GEN AI, LLM, RAG, Agentic RAG are preferred. 2.) Collaboration & Communication: Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, compliance, risk, and engineering. Strong documentation and requirement gathering skills to align technical governance with business objectives. Skilled in stakeholder management and articulating data governance value to non-technical audiences. Experience driving adoption of governance practices across enterprise functions. 3.) Personality Traits & Leadership: Detail-oriented with a strong sense of data integrity and accuracy. Self-driven , with the ability to take ownership and lead governance initiatives independently. Process-oriented thinker with a structured approach to problem-solving. Influencer with the ability to promote data discipline across teams. Demonstrates professional integrity , especially while handling sensitive financial and customer data. Adaptable to change and comfortable working in a fast-paced NBFC environment . QUALIFICATIONS 1. BE/B. Tech and/or M. Tech in any discipline 2. 5-8 years of industry experience and 4-6 years in any Data Governance tool (preferred is Ab Initio) 3. Strong problem-solving skills. 4. Good collaboration skills. 5. Good communication skills. 6. Good leadership skills.
