A Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. The role ensures correct labeling, handling, and transportation of samples for testing, maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality throughout the process. Key Responsibilities: Perform venipuncture, capillary, and other specimen collections according to standard procedures. Verify patient identity and match specimens with test requisitions accurately. Label and record samples properly to ensure traceability. Prepare and store specimens for transport to the central or reference laboratory. Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile workspace and adhere to infection control guidelines. Handle sample rejection, recollection, and report discrepancies as per protocol. Ensure timely collection from wards, OPD, home visits, or collection centers . Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and ensure adequate stock. Maintain professional behavior, empathy, and communication with patients and colleagues. Assist in quality control activities and participate in training or audits when required.
