We are searching for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to become a part of the Microsoft Discovery team and contribute to an innovative AI-driven platform that is set to revolutionize the scientific research process. Microsoft Discovery is a state-of-the-art enterprise platform that leverages AI agents and high-performance computing to accelerate research and development (R&D) in various fields such as chemistry, materials, energy, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals. The platform has already demonstrated its potential in addressing real-world challenges through AI-powered discovery and collaboration with partners across industries. In this role, you will be immersed in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within Microsoft, working alongside a highly motivated team that thrives on overcoming complex challenges and engaging in rapid development cycles. Collaboration with key platform teams across Microsoft and Microsoft Research will be an integral part of designing, constructing, and operating the Discovery platform and its associated products. Responsibilities As a Senior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include: - Architecting and developing scalable, distributed systems from the ground up. - Leading features from conceptualization to global deployment. - Mentoring engineers and overseeing design/code reviews. - Enhancing engineering velocity and service reliability by implementing AI-driven process improvements. - Collaborating with Microsoft Research and platform teams to incorporate cutting-edge technologies. - Implementing site-reliability engineering practices to ensure robust operations. Qualifications Required: - Possess 7+ years of experience in commercial software development. - Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. - Demonstrate a general understanding of building AI-powered services and multi-agent systems. - Showcase proven expertise in constructing and maintaining dependable distributed systems. Preferred: - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and enterprise-level services. - Familiarity with widely-used scientific tools in chemistry, physics, and bio sciences. - Exhibit strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive attitude towards taking action. - Exhibit a passion for scientific innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. - Possess an advanced degree (MS/PhD) as an added advantage.
