Leadership and Coordination: Supervising the OT staff, including nurses, technicians, and other support personnel. Scheduling surgeries and allocating resources effectively. Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals. Ensuring that all staff members are aware of their roles and responsibilities. Sterile Environment and Safety: Maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to strict infection control protocols. Ensuring that all surgical equipment and instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized. Managing hazardous waste and following biomedical waste disposal protocols. Resource Management: Managing inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment. Ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available for each surgical procedure. Monitoring and assessing the performance of the OT team. Quality Assurance: Implementing and reviewing policies and procedures for theatre operations. Monitoring and assuring quality in all aspects of OT operations. Participating in quality improvement initiatives. Patient Care: Preparing patients for operative procedures. Providing intra-operative equipment and technical support. Assisting with emergency situations within the OT. Staff Development: Providing training and development opportunities for staff. Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback. Resolving staff conflicts and issues. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures and equipment usage. Operating Room Management: Ensuring the operating room is clean, sterile, and well-stocked with necessary equipment and supplies. Sterile Field Maintenance: Maintaining a sterile environment within the operating room by assisting with the preparation and handling of instruments and supplies. Surgical Assistance: Helping the surgeon during the procedure by passing instruments, supplies, and medications, as well as monitoring the patient's status. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of patient care, including medications administered, vital signs, and any complications encountered. Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating effectively with other members of the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nurses. Infection Control: Adhering to strict infection control protocols to prevent surgical site infections and other healthcare-associated infections. Patient Education and Support: Providing patients and their families with information about the surgery, potential complications, and post-operative care. Emergency Response: Being prepared to respond to emergencies, such as cardiac arrest or anaphylaxis, and assisting with resuscitation efforts.
