We combine AI, advanced data pipelines, and intuitive dashboards to give our clients actionable insights and defensible compliance reporting. We are scaling rapidly, and onboarding multiple enterprise clients. To accelerate our growth, were looking for an Engineering Manager / Tech Lead to lead our technical team and ensure we deliver world-class, scalable products. Role Overview As the Engineering Manager / Tech Lead, you will: • Lead a growing team of frontend, backend, DevOps, and AI/ML engineers. • Own the delivery of SustainInsights core platform (React, Node.js, MongoDB) and AI modules (chatbots, RAG pipelines, model fine-tuning). • Translate business requirements (Embodied carbon, ESG compliance) into technical solutions. • Balance startup pragmatism (ship fast) with enterprise reliability (compliance, auditability, scale). • Report directly to the founders and partner closely with Product & Client teams. Key Responsibilities • Technical Leadership: Guide architecture decisions across frontend (React), backend (Node.js), database (MongoDB), and AI integrations (RAG, vector DBs, fine-tuning). • Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and coach engineers; conduct code reviews; foster a culture of quality and learning. • Delivery Ownership: Drive sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and ensure features ship on time. • Client-Centric Engineering: Ensure technical solutions align with EC3, EPDs, and client compliance requirements. • Scaling Infrastructure: Oversee DevOps (Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring) and multi-tenant SaaS deployments. • AI Integration: Work with ML engineers to bring AI models (chatbots, document understanding, RAG) into production in a secure and auditable way. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Sustainability Consultants, and Business Development to ensure engineering output matches market needs. Required Skills & Experience • 7–12 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2–4 years leading teams. • Strong hands-on expertise in: • Frontend: React.js, modern state management. • Backend: Node.js, Express/Nest.js, REST/GraphQL APIs. • Database: MongoDB (schema design, scaling, optimization). • Good working knowledge of: • DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure). • AI/ML integration: retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, OpenAI/Hugging Face APIs. • SaaS product scaling: multi-tenant architectures, security best practices. • Experience in Agile/Scrum and delivering enterprise-grade SaaS products. • Prior startup/scale-up experience strongly preferred. Nice to Have • Exposure to sustainability or ESG compliance domains. • Experience deploying ML models (fine-tuning, LoRA, Hugging Face Transformers). • Knowledge of MLOps (MLflow, Weights & Biases, model versioning). • Passion for sustainability and technology’s role in climate impact.
