Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch MySQL and PostgreSQL database systems. Monitor database performance and proactively address slow queries, locking, and resource bottlenecks. Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Manage replication (streaming, logical, or GTID-based) and clustering (e.g., MySQL Group Replication, Patroni). Handle database migrations , version upgrades, and data transformation tasks. Automate DBA tasks using shell scripts , Python , or Ansible . Ensure data security , compliance, and access control in database environments. Work with developers on schema design , indexing strategies, and query optimization. Maintain documentation and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor and manage cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, etc.). Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 47+ years of hands-on experience with MySQL (5.7/8.0) and PostgreSQL (12+) administration. Strong proficiency in SQL , PL/pgSQL , and stored procedures . Expertise in database backup and recovery tools like pgBackRest , mysqldump , Percona XtraBackup . Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus , Zabbix , Nagios , pgBadger ). Familiarity with Linux-based environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS). Understanding of ACID principles , MVCC , and transaction management .
