Objective of the role

The Academic Assessor is responsible for evaluating postgraduate-level student work and providing guidance for online learners, with particular emphasis on dissertation supervision. This role focuses on maintaining academic standards while supporting distance learners through timely assessment and constructive feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dissertation guidance to learners pursuing Master's-level programsReview and evaluate assessment submissions promptlyOffer detailed, constructive feedback to support student developmentEnsure consistency and fairness in grading across all student submissionsMonitor student academic progress and intervene when necessarySupport students through the research process including proposal development, methodology selection, and data analysisMaintain regular communication with online learners through virtual office hours and digital platformsCollaborate with learning facilitator / faculties to ensure alignment with learning outcomesDocument student performance and maintain accurate assessment recordsParticipate in moderation and standardization activities to ensure quality assurance

Skills And Qualifications Required

Masters equivalent terminal degree in the relevant disciplinePrevious experience supervising Master's dissertations

Minimum 1 Years Of Experience In Online Education/learning Environments

Demonstrated expertise in research methodologies appropriate to your disciplineFamiliarity with virtual learning environments and digital assessment toolsExperience with academic quality assurance processesExcellent written communication skills for providing clear, detailed feedbackStrong time management abilities to handle multiple assessment deadlinesProficiency with online learning platforms and digital collaboration toolsAbility to establish rapport with students in a virtual environmentUnderstanding of diverse learning needs in an online contextDetail-oriented approach to evaluating academic work
