Job Summary:

The Procurement Engineer (Maritime) will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract management of critical maritime equipment, spare parts, services, and materials essential for the safe and efficient operation of our offshore fleet and marine assets. This role requires a strong understanding of maritime technical specifications, supply chain best practices, and the ability to negotiate favorable terms while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new and existing suppliers globally, specializing in maritime equipment, vessel spare parts, repair services, and related offshore components.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, shipyards, and marine service providers.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, new technologies, and potential cost-saving opportunities within the maritime procurement landscape.
  • Technical Procurement & RFQ Management:

  • Collaborate closely with technical, operations, and engineering teams (e.g., Vessel Superintendents, Marine Engineers, Project Managers) to understand specific requirements and technical specifications for maritime purchases.
  • Prepare and issue Request for Quotations (RFQs), tenders, and proposals based on detailed technical specifications.
  • Technically evaluate bids, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
  • Negotiation & Contract Management:

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve the best possible terms, prices, and delivery schedules, focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts, ensuring legal and commercial terms protect the company's interests.
  • Oversee purchase order (PO) management from creation to delivery and invoice reconciliation.
  • Cost Control & Efficiency:

  • Implement strategies to optimize procurement costs without compromising quality or operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement performance, identifying areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Manage inventory levels of critical maritime spares to minimize downtime and avoid stock-outs.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM), company policies, and local laws.
  • Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks specific to the maritime industry.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CSCMP) is a plus.
  • Experience:

  • Minimum of5-7] years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 3 years specifically in

    maritime, offshore, or shipbuilding procurement.

  • Proven experience in sourcing and purchasing marine spare parts, technical equipment, and vessel services.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and e-procurement platforms is highly desirable.
  • Skills:

  • Strong technical understanding of marine equipment, vessel operations, and maintenance requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in contract drafting and management.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Arabic language skills are a significant advantage for positions in Saudi Arabia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
