As a senior research specialist at Nokia, you will be an integral part of the Strategy & Technology team, driving continuous improvement and world-class innovation in radio and multimedia research, particularly for Nokia Standards. Your role will involve developing new RAN concepts and contributing to Nokia's wireless technical leadership. You will work alongside a high-performance global team committed to driving innovation and excellence. Your responsibilities will include: - Conducting radio research in the area of communication protocols and physical layer for devices - Developing high-quality intellectual property (IPRs) to strengthen Nokia's IPR portfolio - Creating device implementation concepts to support standards contributions in 3GPP - Engaging in customer dialogues on the latest wireless technology trends - Collaborating with a team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently - Actively participating in 3GPP to push Nokia's research into standardization - Contributing to 3GPP within the RAN area and shaping the future of mobile communications and standards - Developing leading research in terminal and device areas, influencing the next generation of mobile communications - Creating innovative solutions in 6G radio and system to shape the future of wireless connectivity - Learning from industry experts about cutting-edge wireless and mobile network technologies - Applying and expanding your knowledge by developing new approaches and solutions for AI/ML in radio and 6G systems - Contributing to 6G in standardization organizations like 3GPP Key Skills and Experience Required: - Strong background in 5G or LTE - PhD or masters degree in computer science, AI, Telecommunications, or related field - Profound understanding of radio access systems and cellular devices - Knowledge of Radio Access solution & product portfolio and wireless business strategy - Experience in 3GPP standardization is a plus - Understanding of RX and TX physical layer architecture, L1/2/3 protocol SW architecture, and AI/ML fundamentals - Proficiency in evaluating concepts and solutions through simulations or analytical methods You should have a technical background with at least 2 years of experience as a development engineer or researcher in the cellular modem area. Additionally, experience in a multi-national and distributed environment is preferred. Fluency in English is required.
