Staying abreast of the latest advancements in fiber optic technology and industry best practices will also be an essential part of your job. To qualify for this position, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Electrical, or related field) preferred, or a Diploma can be considered. A minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic network design and engineering is required. Proficiency in using fiber optic design software such as 3GIS, AutoCAD, or FiberCAD is essential. You should have a strong understanding of fiber optic technology, principles, and components, as well as excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, along with strong communication and written documentation skills, is necessary. As part of our engineering and design team, you will be responsible for creating area plans, detailed designs, and documentation in accordance with provided engineering standards and guidelines to ensure cost-optimized designs. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the quality and timely delivery of area planning, detailed designs, and documentation while prioritizing safety by considering health, environmental, and heritage concerns. It will be crucial for you to identify potential risks in designs and proactively address them through meticulous attention to detail. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior designers to seek feedback and offer recommendations for enhancing planning and design processes. Your input will be valuable in contributing to process improvements and refining design protocols. You will be expected to ensure that area plans and detailed design deliverables are clearly defined and effectively communicated within the team. To succeed in this position, you should ideally possess 5 to 10 years of experience in planning, designing, and documenting OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) communications networks. Your expertise should extend to Core, Transport, Distribution, and Access networks, covering both active and passive devices across various technologies such as Fiber, Copper, and HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial). Familiarity with aerial, underground, and intra-building design standards will be essential, along with experience in MDU design, aerial design, Pole Make Ready designs (PLA/MRE), IFP design, permits, and CDs. A strong background in GIS-related platforms and tools is also crucial for this role. Proficiency in applications like AutoCAD Map 3D, Ocalc, SpidaCalc, Quick Pole, Megallan, 3GIS, ARAMIS, IRIS, ArcGIS, SpatialNET, QGIS, Smallworld, MapInfo, and IQGeo will be highly beneficial. Your experience in ensuring the timely delivery and approval of area plans and detailed designs, as well as conducting quality checks and providing constructive feedback to the team, will be instrumental in delivering high-quality designs within specified timelines.,
