We are seeking a Hardware Design Lead to take full ownership of BMS hardware development for EV and energy storage applications. The role focuses on designing new hardware using proven architectures, selecting components, and delivering production-ready PCBs in collaboration with firmware and manufacturing teams. You will ensure the hardware platform is robust, manufacturable, and scalable for Indian supply chains and local EMS partners. Key Responsibilities • Hardware Design & Development • Lead schematic capture and PCB layout for BMS hardware (cell monitoring, balancing, power stage, comms). • Optimise designs for manufacturability (DFM/DFT), reliability, and cost. • Select and validate components with focus on local sourcing and second-sourcing. • Testing & Validation • Define and execute hardware validation protocols (electrical, thermal, safety). • Support firmware team during bring-up and debugging. • Collaborate with test engineers to build functional test setups. • Manufacturing Handoff • Deliver full manufacturing package (Gerbers, BOM, Pick-and-Place, assembly instructions). • Work with Indian EMS/PCBA vendors for prototyping and pilot runs. • Support compliance with AIS, BIS, ISO, and safety certifications. • Leadership & Collaboration • Guide junior hardware engineers/technicians as needed. • Work closely with Firmware Lead and Supply Chain team. • Document hardware design thoroughly for version control and future scaling. Qualifications & Skills • Education: B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). • Experience: 5–8 years in hardware design, preferably in BMS, EV, or energy storage systems. • Technical Skills: • Proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD). • Strong knowledge of AFEs (TI, ADI, NXP), MOSFET drivers, balancing circuits, current sensing. • Familiar with isolated power supplies, CAN/UART comms, and high-voltage safety design. • Hands-on debugging (oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyzers). • Soft Skills: • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to manage hardware projects end-to-end. • Good communication and documentation skills. ⸻ Nice-to-Have • Prior work on EV battery packs or ESS hardware platforms. • Knowledge of AIS 156, EMC/EMI testing. • Experience with Indian EMS/PCBA vendors. ⸻ What We Offer • Opportunity to lead hardware design in India’s EV and energy storage ecosystem. • Ownership from concept to production. • Work with a lean, high-performance team. • Competitive compensation with growth potential.
