As a skilled DTP Operator, you will be supporting our production team at a heritage publishing house in India with typesetting and reformatting tasks. Your primary responsibility will be working on book interiors, especially converting B-format books to different trim sizes while ensuring clean and consistent layouts. You will be expected to typeset book interiors using existing styles and design templates, reformat B-format titles into new trim sizes, and maintain uniformity in typography, spacing, and layout across editions. Additionally, you will need to address layout issues such as overset text, line breaks, and hyphenation, and create press-ready PDF files based on printer specifications. Collaboration with editorial and design teams to implement revisions will also be a part of your role. To excel in this position, you should have proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Acrobat, with knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator being an added advantage. A strong understanding of layout principles, typography, and print production is essential, along with experience in style-based formatting and handling long-form text. The ability to work independently and meet publishing deadlines is crucial for success in this role. If you have prior experience working with small or independent publishers and familiarity with common Indian and international trim sizes, margins, and bleed specifications, it would be considered a plus point.
