Job Title: Senior Instructor (CAR 147 Basic) – Category B1.1 & B2 Location: Western India Institute of Aeronautics, Ahmedabad Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract / Part-Time Job Purpose: To deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in accordance with CAR 147 Basic Training standards for Category B1.1 (Mechanical) and Category B2 (Avionics) to Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) students. The role ensures compliance with DGCA CAR 147 Basic & CAR 66 standards to prepare students for Part-66 license examinations and future aviation maintenance roles. Key Responsibilities: Deliver theoretical and practical instruction in relevant B1.1 and/or B2 modules as per CAR 66 syllabus. Develop lesson plans, training materials, presentations, and assessments in line with DGCA and institute standards. Conduct internal assessments and examinations in accordance with CAR 147 Basic standards. Maintain accurate training records for each student and report progress regularly. Support practical training activities in the hangar, workshops, and labs, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Qualifications & Experience: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering or completion of an DGCA approved AME course Cat. B1.1/B2 Preferable at least one completed Aircraft Type Training course (in compliance with CAR 66 standards). Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a civil aviation maintenance environment in CAR 145 organisation or acceptable equivalent. Experience must be demonstrably relevant to the subject areas being instructed (e.g., Mod. 06, 07, 11, 13, 15 & 17). Preferred: Previous experience as an AME Instructor or Technical Trainer in a CAR 147 Basic or Approved Training Organization (ATO). CAR 66 Category B1.1 or B2 License (or both) – valid or previously held. Retired from AIESL/Jet Airways Maintenance Division. Skills & Competencies: Strong Theoretical and Practical instructional and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication in English. Job Description: CAR/Part 147 (Basic) Instructor Cat. B1/B2 The instructor will conduct theoretical and/or practical training and assist in developing aircraft maintenance training materials per the CAR/PART 66 syllabus to enhance trainee skills. Responsibilities include maintaining records of training activities and student attendance. The instructor will also serve as an Examiner/Assessor for developing questions and conducting practical assessments. Job Responsibilities: Instruct CAR/PART 66 Modules for Cat. B1.1/B2 as applicable. Prepare lesson plans, task cards, procedure sheets, trainer notes, and PPTs for theoretical and practical classes as per CAR/PART 66. Conduct classroom and platform instruction to ensure progressive and effective learning. Perform and document intermediate and terminal assessments to gauge learning progress. Maintain classroom discipline, manage the learning process, keep trainee records, and collaborate with other instructors. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Training Manager or authorized personnel. Requirements: Qualifications & Experience: We are looking a retired applicant from AIESL/JET AIRWAYS with either or may of the following qualifications - Possess a B1/B2 AME License or be an Authorized Certifying Staff. (Valid/expired) Hold a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering. Have completed Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical/Avionics discipline) with cleared DGCA/EASA modules in the relevant category/sub-category. Alternatively, hold a BAMEL in HA/CT/LA/PE/RA/ES/IS/RN. Preferably, have one year of teaching experience in AME institutes or AMOs. Preferably, have more than one year of practical experience in the required discipline (Cat. B1.1 & B2) as a certifying/support staff in AMOs, Airlines, CAR/PART 145 organizations. Candidates with a technical background in the Airforce can be considered based on competency in mechanical/avionics modules.
