Job Description

Job Summary:

Welding Inspector

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection and verification of welding activities for valves and pressure-containing components as per approved

    Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)

    and

    Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)

    .
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, and welding documentation.
  • Monitor welding processes and techniques to ensure compliance with

    API (e.g., API 6D, API 600)

    ,

    ASME Section IX

    , and internal quality standards.
  • Conduct

    pre-weld

    ,

    in-process

    , and

    post-weld inspections

    , including

    visual inspection

    ,

    dimensional checks

    , and

    non-destructive examination (NDE/NDT)

    coordination.
  • Ensure proper calibration and use of welding and inspection equipment.
  • Verify welder qualifications and maintain welder performance records.
  • Liaise with third-party inspectors and certification bodies for audits, inspections, and tests.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed

    inspection reports

    ,

    NDT reports

    ,

    welding logs

    , and

    quality documentation

    as per project and certification requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related non-conformities.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of welding procedures and inspection processes.

Requirements:

Education & Certification:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (e.g.,

    AWS-CWI

    ,

    CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2

    ,

    ASNT Level II

    in VT, PT, MT, UT is preferred).
  • Knowledge of

    API standards

    applicable to valve manufacturing (e.g., API 6D, API 598, API 600).

Experience:

  • 37 years of experience in welding inspection in the

    valve manufacturing industry

    or

    pressure equipment sector

    .
  • Hands-on experience in

    API audit preparation

    , welding documentation, and quality control processes.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, WPS, PQR, and NDT reports.
  • Attention to detail, strong documentation, and reporting skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP/QMS systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience with international projects or clients.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001, API Q1 or similar quality systems.
  • Knowledge of pressure testing, painting/coating inspection, and final valve assembly checks.
