Welding Inspector

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

• Welding Inspections:

  Conduct thorough inspections on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and related components to ensure compliance with welding codes (ASME, AWS, PED).

• Interpretation of Codes:

  Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and specifications to ensure adherence to relevant standards.

• Quality Control:

  Perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) as necessary to verify weld quality and structural integrity.

• Documentation:

  Maintain detailed records and reports on inspections, testing, and welding processes.

• Compliance Monitoring:

  Ensure welding activities meet both internal and external quality standards, including safety and environmental regulations.

• Inspection of Welders:

  Monitor welder performance to ensure compliance with welding procedures and safety protocols.

• Collaboration:

  Work with QA/QC, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality issues and ensure timely inspections.

• Training & Mentorship:

  Mentor junior welding inspectors and production personnel on best practices.

• Third-Party Inspections:

  Manage third-party inspections and customer audits as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:

  Diploma/Bachelors in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.

• Certifications:

  Mandatory CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CSWIP 3.2.2.

• Experience:

  Minimum 10 years in welding inspection, particularly in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.

• Skills:

  Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

• Technical Proficiency:

  Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and NDT techniques.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and interpreting results.
  
• Lean Six Sigma Certification (desirable).
  
• Familiarity with MES and quality management software.
