VMC Operator – Aerospace Parts

Job Description: Position Summary:

A seasoned VMC Setter cum Operator with extensive experience (20 years) in precision machining, responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining VMC machines to manufacture high-precision aerospace components. The role requires in-depth knowledge of machining practices, aerospace quality standards, and CNC programming adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup and Operation:
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs to understand machining requirements.
  • Set up VMC machines, including tool selection, tool setting, and zero-point alignment.
  • Operate VMC machines to produce aerospace components with tight tolerances and excellent surface finishes.
  • Programming and Troubleshooting:
  • Load and adjust CNC programs as required for different components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programming, tools, and machine operations.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments like CMM, micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure adherence to aerospace industry standards (AS9100 or equivalent).
  • Perform in-process inspections to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Process Optimization:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.
  • Suggest tooling changes to optimize machining efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Safety:
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance of VMC machines to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and proper handling of tools and equipment.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of machine setups, tool usage, and production runs.
  • Complete inspection reports and maintain quality documentation as required by aerospace standards.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of VMC operations and CNC programming (G-code/M-code).
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with aerospace-grade materials (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and Inconel).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, or similar aerospace standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certifications in CNC programming or machining (preferred).
  • 20 years of experience in VMC machining, with at least 10 years focused on aerospace parts.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolant, and machining equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy tools and materials (as per safety guidelines).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
