Industry: Preclinical CRO (GLP-OECD certified) About the Role: Vipragen Bioscience Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly accomplished Principal Scientist Cell Biology & Pharmacology to join our dynamic team at our OECD GLP-certified preclinical CRO in Mysore. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cell biology, in vivo pharmacology, and biomarker discovery across multiple therapeutic areas. The selected individual will lead a team of 8–10 scientists and play a key role in driving discovery service programs. Key Responsibilities: Lead research service in cell biology and in vivo pharmacology across therapeutic areas including inflammation, diabetes and metabolic diseases, neuroscience, autoimmune disorders, and oncology Design, conduct, and oversee animal studies using pharmacologically relevant in vivo models aligned with program objectives Guide biomarker discovery and validation using Luminex, flow cytometry, qPCR, and related molecular and cellular techniques Provide scientific input on pharmacokinetics (PK) and ADME studies, and collaborate cross-functionally to integrate findings into project strategy Develop and validate bioanalytical assays including cell-based potency assays and impurity characterization methods to support early and late-stage programs Supervise a team of 8–10 scientists, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance management Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring efficient execution of experimental plans, regulatory compliance, and lab safety Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating budgets. Contribute to programs involving cell and gene therapy, including vector optimization and immunological evaluation (preferred but not required) Lead the training and onboarding of junior scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and scientific rigor Act as a key client-facing scientific liaison, engaging with external partners to communicate project progress, resolve issues, and align research objectives Preferred Qualifications: M.sc / Ph.D. in Pharmacology, or related life sciences field A minimum 8-15 years of experience in CRO/Pharma Proven expertise small molecule and large molecule drug discovery Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Willingness to relocate to Mysore Desired Qualities: Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
