What you'll do: As part of Viasat's Terminals team, you will design, develop, deploy, and support new and innovative technology that will be used on a globally accessible satellite network. Viasat’s unique position as a service provider and equipment manufacturer allows you to experience the whole life cycle of networking software development – all the way from design to deployment. Your fellow senior engineer teammates, will be there to aid in design, documentation, implementation, testing, analyses, test execution, and system support, to ensure deployed production networks delight our customers. The day-to-day: Design, develop, deploy, and support new and innovative technology that will be used on our next gen Terminals. Participate in architecture, software design and code reviews and strive to maintain quality software. Manage individual priorities, deliverables and work with team leads to tackle obstacles. Work collaboratively with other engineers in an Agile-first self-organized Scrum team. Participate in the on-call support rotation working out of the India office. Troubleshoot and coordinate recovery for the most challenging Terminals production issues. Develop strong relationships with partner engineering teams to share knowledge and best practices and to drive continuous improvement. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments. What you'll need: 5 to 8 years of software engineering experience in C, C++ with strong emphasis on software architecture and design in the Unix/Linux based platforms. Experience with network programming and concurrent/multithreaded programming. Demonstrated experience in Networking (TCP/IP,UDP) and troubleshooting expertise. Solid understanding of foundational computer science concepts related to software architecture, basic algorithms, and data structures. Experience in working in Agile/Scrum and DevOps environments. Strong oral and written communication skills. What will help you on the job: Experience with OpenWrt and/or embedded Linux. Knowledge on tools like Jenkins, JIRA, Perforce and Git. Experience with bash and Python scripting in Linux. Experience with telecom/networking/satellite/wireless communications, wimax and protocol development. Experience working in cloud environment. What you'll do: Reporting to the Credit Manager, Asia Pacific, the primary objective of this position is to take full responsibility and ownership of the collection activities associated with the Viasat customer base in India, with specific emphasis on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (commonly known as BSNL). The overriding purpose being to maximise the debtor cash collection performance, simultaneously reducing the existing overdue debt., while fostering and building upon the strong business relationship. This role works closely with cross-functional departments. The role provides credit control services to BSNL across all Inmarsat Business Units, working closely with key representatives from both Viasat and BSNL to support the financial objectives to maximise performance of the working capital, reduce and maintain overdue debt at acceptable levels and minimise each business unit bad debt and provisions. The position will challenge the status quo and influence the Customer and Sales team, whilst maintaining excellent working relationships with both internal and with BSNL whilst adhering to standard processes, procedures and policies. The day-to-day: Ability to foster effective teamwork between BSNL, the GCM team, and the many cross functional teams. Identify, assess and inform direct to management of internal and external issues that impact performance. Including invoice delivery, payments, dispute management and ensuring accounts are fully reconciled. Take full ownership of and responsibility for, the progression of validating and approval of invoices within each Department/Section/Area/Authority internally of BSNL. Apply time management techniques to ensure daily activities are achieved, improving own performance which is aligned to achieving goals and targets Ensure activities are targeted at maximising cash collection and reducing overdue debt, including QA of invoices issued by Viasat to BSNL. Work with manager to ensure invoice disputes are proactively recorded and resolved in a timely manner Co-ordinate and assist BSNL with Cash Collection activities relating to BSNL end-users Ensure the day-to-day activities conform to company policies and internal control procedures Provide Manager with direct contact points for key members within BSNL Ensure all activities are performed, including reporting and business reviews, are in line with service level agreements and the month end timetable Ensure regular meetings are held, to review BSNL open items and disputes, keeping Manager informed of initiatives, issues as well as progress. Provide written minutes of such meetings. Provide insight and recommendations the BSNL portfolio, to support the credit assessment and collection process. Conduct on-site visits at regular intervals.
