Work with photo-realistic images of high-quality and skills to composite 2D/3D elements with the input. Collaborate with VFX supervisors and directors to understand and achieve the visual goals of the project. Integrate CG elements, live-action footage, matte paintings, and effects to create visually compelling images. Work closely with CG artists, matte painters, and VFX supervisors to achieve the desired final look. Identify and solve compositing issues, ensuring high-quality output within deadlines. Optimize shots for efficiency while maintaining the highest quality standards. Mentor and provide guidance to junior compositors, helping them improve their skills. Requirements: 5+ years of experience working in a film VFX pipeline. Strong working knowledge of Nuke software. Demonstrated talent for the seamless integration of live action and CG source. A strong understanding of contemporary compositing techniques. Developed artistic skills and a good eye, and good knowledge of color, light (reflection, refraction, shadows), perspective and composition. Excellent organizational and communication skills. As a Feature Animation Editor at DNEG, you will play a crucial role in merging the requirements and responsibilities of VFX edit and Story edit. Collaborating closely with the Production team and Story editorial, your primary task will involve handling internal editorial tasks essential for the show, in coordination with an Assistant Editor. Your responsibilities will include managing ingest and client deliveries while maintaining a strong working relationship with the clients 1st Assist. You will oversee the maintenance of databases, ensuring that cut information is up to date and effectively communicated to the crew. Additionally, you will coordinate the team and the project, tracking all items and processes to ensure their accurate completion, while staying informed about the schedules and turnovers of the production. To excel in this role, you must possess proven experience in working within an Animation or VFX Editorial Department on high-end long-form productions such as TV or Feature Films. Proficiency in Avid Media Composer is essential, with knowledge of other non-linear editing platforms like Adobe Premiere and Final Cut considered a bonus. A good understanding of Film and HD video formats, frame rates, resolutions, and various video codecs is required. Experience in encoding, transcoding, ingesting, and conforming outputs from Avid is crucial, along with solid IT skills and Mac literacy. Moreover, you should have a strong creative eye to suggest cut developments and the ability to think quickly to address any challenging situations that may arise. Familiarity with editorial tools, the Animation process, VFX pipeline, shot tracking databases like Shotgun or Filemaker, and experience in cutting together boards and/or previs will be advantageous. While sound mixing awareness and temp foley recording are not mandatory, relevant experience in these areas would be beneficial. The Digital Paint Artist creates background plates and restores sequence paint for high-end visual effects. As an applicant, you must possess an artistic vision and creative thinking ability. You should demonstrate exceptional skill in at least one paint software such as Photoshop, Nuke, etc. Additionally, a minimum of one to two years of hands-on experience with 2D paint and stereo paint is required. Ideal candidates will have experience in Plate Creation, Marker removal, Wire & rig removal, matte painting, and all Artifact clean-up. You will be expected to handle difficult to extremely difficult paint tasks within a fast-paced environment and troubleshoot Nuke paint scripts for any arising issues. A strong knowledge in camera projection, color, and grain structures is essential, with the ability to match saturation, hues, and black points from multiple sources. It is important to be able to break shots down into individual components with little supervision, assimilate feedback given by supervisors, and research appropriate references including continuity with like shots. Furthermore, the ability to self-review for accuracy, troubleshoot efficiently, and possess in-depth knowledge of the VFX pipeline for production deliveries is crucial. Desired Skills include experience preferably in Hollywood VFX, willingness to learn new tools, detail-oriented nature, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a production environment. You should be a good team player, self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to take ownership of projects to complete them before deadlines. Strong communication and time management skills are necessary, along with good problem-solving abilities.
