Job Title: Control Room Operator Department: Ferro Alloys / Production Reports To: Shift In-Charge / Production Engineer / Plant Manager Location: Industrial Growth Centre, Industrial Road, Phase II Siltara, Sondra, Chhattisgarh, 493221 Shift: Rotational / As per plant operations Job Purpose: To monitor, control, and optimize the operation of furnaces and auxiliary systems in the Ferro Alloys department from the control room, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production in accordance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operations Monitoring & Control Operate and monitor all furnace control systems (submerged arc furnace, feeding systems, tapping, cooling, etc.) through SCADA/DCS systems. Maintain stable furnace parameters (temperature, voltage, current, burden composition, etc.) to achieve target production and quality. Adjust process variables based on real-time data and instructions from the Shift In-Charge or process engineer. Coordinate with field operators for smooth furnace operations and troubleshooting. Log and record all process parameters, events, and abnormalities during the shift. 2. Production & Process Management Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality specifications for Ferro Alloys (e.g., FeSi, FeMn, SiMn, etc.). Monitor raw material feeding rates and electrode conditions. Support in optimization of power consumption and raw material utilization. Assist in start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures of furnaces. 3. Safety & Compliance Strictly follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements. Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment failures, or abnormal process deviations. Support incident investigations and preventive action implementations. 4. Communication & Coordination Coordinate with maintenance, electrical, and mechanical teams for equipment maintenance or troubleshooting. Maintain continuous communication with field operators, furnace operators, and the Shift In-Charge. Participate in daily shift meetings and handover processes. 5. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate shift logs, production reports, and downtime records. Record key operating parameters and report deviations to supervisors. Support data analysis for process improvement and energy efficiency projects. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or relevant field. Experience: 25 years of experience in Ferro Alloys plant operations, preferably with control room exposure (Submerged Arc Furnace operations). Technical Skills: Proficiency in DCS/SCADA systems Understanding of furnace operation principles and electrical systems Knowledge of raw materials, reaction chemistry, and process control Basic computer skills (MS Office, reporting tools) Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and operational discipline Ability to work under pressure in shift environments Good communication and teamwork skills Safety and quality consciousness Physical & Work Environment: Industrial / plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and dust. Must be willing to work in rotating shifts and respond to emergencies.
