Job Summary The CNC/VMC Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC and VMC machines to produce precision components as per engineering drawings and quality standards. The role requires strong technical skills, understanding of machining processes, and adherence to safety and quality norms followed at manufacturing units. Key Responsibilities Operate CNC/VMC machines to manufacture components based on production schedules and engineering drawings. Interpret and understand mechanical drawings, G & M codes, and machining parameters. Set up tools, fixtures, and workpieces on the machine with precision. Perform machine zeroing, offset adjustments, tool length settings, and program loading. Monitor machining operations, make necessary corrections, and ensure finished parts meet dimensional accuracy Perform routine machine maintenance and report any abnormalities or breakdowns. Maintain adherence to safety protocols and L&T quality standards at all times. Work closely with production supervisors, quality inspectors, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow. Record production data, machine parameters, and inspection results in daily logs. Skills & CompetenciesKnowledge of CNC/VMC machine operations and controller systems (Fanuc/Siemens/Mazak or equivalent). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machining symbols. Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments. Strong understanding of machining processes such as milling, drilling, tapping, and finishing. Basic troubleshooting skills for machine and tool issues. Commitment to safety and quality compliance Educational Qualification : ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machinist, Tool & Die, or related field. Experience Required1–5 years of experience operating CNC/VMC machines, preferably in a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience with L&T or similar large-scale engineering companies is an added advantage. Physical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to stand for long hours and handle moderate physical tasks.
