Job Summary The Housekeeper is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and organizational tasks to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation of the assigned area (e.g., guest rooms, private homes, common areas, or offices) meet established standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Cleaning and Sanitation Perform general cleaning duties including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and polishing all surfaces, floors, and fixtures. Clean and sanitize bathrooms (toilets, sinks, tubs/showers, mirrors) and kitchens (sinks, countertops, appliances). Change bed linens and make beds according to standard procedure. Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to disposal areas. Clean walls, windows, and ceilings as needed. Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks as scheduled. 2. Supply Management Replenish supplies such as toiletries, towels, paper products, and cleaning products. Monitor and report on the inventory of cleaning supplies and linen. Ensure all cleaning equipment is used properly, cleaned, and stored safely at the end of the shift. 3. Laundry and Organization (Often for Residential/Hotel Roles) Handle and process laundry, which may include washing, drying, ironing, and folding linens and/or personal clothing. Keep linen closets and supply areas stocked and organized. Assist with general organization and tidiness of rooms and common areas. 4. Reporting and Safety Promptly report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor or manager (e.g., broken equipment, leaks, or malfunctioning lights). Follow all established health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies. Handle and dispose of trash and, if applicable, biohazardous materials (especially in a hospital setting) correctly. Report and store lost-and-found items according to procedure. Requirements and Skills Proven experience as a Housekeeper, Cleaner, or in a similar role is preferred. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, proper storage methods, and safety procedures. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time efficiently. Strong attention to detail and a high standard for cleanliness. Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods, lift moderate weight (e.g., up to 25 pounds), and perform repetitive physical tasks (bending, stooping, kneeling, etc.). Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with guests, residents, or other staff.
