At Cab9, we bring together remarkable people and help them be themselves as part of a collaborative team that innovates.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated UX/UI Designer to help design, develop and improve our digital products and user experiences. You will be responsible for translating user needs and business requirements into intuitive, visually engaging and functional digital interfaces.
Working closely with our Product and Development teams, you will contribute to the design process from initial research and user flows through to wireframing, prototyping, user interface design and final developer handover. You will help ensure our digital products are intuitive, accessible, consistent and aligned with user needs.
You will primarily focus on UX/UI and digital product design. You may occasionally assist our in-house Graphic Designer with relevant design tasks and will work collaboratively with the Graphic Designer and Head of Brand to ensure our digital products maintain visual consistency with the wider brand identity.
What You Will Be Doing
- User Experience (UX) Design: Understand user needs, business requirements and product objectives to create intuitive, effective and user-centred digital experiences.
- User Interface (UI) Design: Design clean, modern and visually engaging interfaces for web portals, websites, mobile applications and other digital products.
- User Journeys and Information Architecture: Map user flows, structure information and simplify complex processes to create seamless and logical user journeys.
- Wireframing and Prototyping: Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes and high-fidelity mock-ups to communicate concepts, test ideas and validate design decisions before development.
- Responsive Design: Create digital experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile devices, maintaining usability and consistency across different screen sizes.
- Design Systems and Components: Build, maintain and improve reusable UI components, design libraries and documentation to support consistency, scalability and efficient product development.
- User Research and Usability Testing: Support user research, usability testing and feedback gathering to identify usability issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Product Improvement: Review existing digital interfaces and user journeys, identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions based on user needs, feedback and product objectives.
- Developer Collaboration and Handover: Work closely with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately, providing the necessary specifications, assets and guidance throughout the development process.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product and Development teams to understand requirements, discuss solutions and ensure design decisions support both user needs and business objectives.
- Brand Consistency: Work alongside the Graphic Designer and Head of Brand to ensure digital interfaces align with the wider brand identity, visual guidelines and design principles.
- Graphic Design Support: Occasionally assist the in-house Graphic Designer with relevant design requirements when needed, while keeping UI/UX and digital product design as your primary responsibility.
What You'll Need to Make the Most of the Role
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in UI/UX design, product design or a similar digital design role, with a strong body of work demonstrating your design process and practical execution.
- Strong UX/UI Fundamentals: A thorough understanding of user-centred design, interaction design, information architecture, user flows, visual hierarchy and usability principles.
- Web Portal and Mobile App Design: Proven experience designing digital products across complex web portals, dashboards, and SaaS platforms and mobile applications (iOS and Android), with an understanding of the different requirements and user behaviours associated with each.
- Proficiency in Figma: Strong working knowledge of Figma for wireframing, high-fidelity interface design, interactive prototyping, reusable components and design documentation.
- Responsive Design: Experience creating responsive interfaces and adapting designs for different devices, screen sizes and user contexts.
- Design Systems: Experience developing or maintaining design systems, component libraries, typography, spacing, colour systems and consistent UI patterns.
- Research and Problem-Solving: The ability to understand user needs, identify design challenges and develop practical solutions informed by research, feedback and usability testing.
- Developer Handover: A clear understanding of preparing designs and specifications for development and collaborating with engineers throughout implementation.
- Attention to Detail: A strong eye for visual quality, usability, accessibility, consistency and functional detail.
- Communication and Collaboration: The ability to communicate design decisions clearly, receive feedback constructively and work effectively with developers, product stakeholders, the Graphic Designer and Head of Brand.
- Organisation and Time Management: The ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and deliver high-quality design work within agreed deadlines.
- Positive and Proactive Approach: A collaborative, curious and solutions-focused attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and improving the user experience.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles, including WCAG.
- Experience conducting usability testing and interpreting user feedback or product analytics.
- A basic understanding of front-end development, including HTML and CSS, to support collaboration with developers.
- Familiarity with agile product development processes and cross-functional working.
- Experience with animation, transitions or micro-interactions for digital interfaces.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator, to support occasional collaboration with the Graphic Designer.
