Unix Infrastructure Engineer

As a Unix Infrastructure Engineer at Barclays, your primary responsibility will be to effectively monitor and maintain the bank's critical technology infrastructure. You will be tasked with resolving more complex technical issues in order to minimize disruptions to operations. Your role will require you to possess specific skills and qualifications to succeed in this position. To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience and qualifications: - RHCE / RHCSA Certified Linux engineer - 3 to 5 years of experience in system administration - Willingness to work in 24/7 rotational shifts - Knowledge of scripting and automation - Knowledge of ITIL process Additionally, highly valued skills may include: - Experience with Dev-Ops awareness - Familiarity with Scripting/Python - Knowledge and experience with Ansible awareness Your key accountabilities will include: - Providing technical support for the service management function to resolve complex issues for specific clients - Developing the support model and service offering to enhance customer service - Executing preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software - Utilizing monitoring tools and metrics to identify and address potential issues - Maintaining a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases - Analyzing system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of issues - Implementing automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, and resiliency measures - Identifying and remediating potential service impacting risks and issues - Proactively assessing support activities and implementing automations for stability and efficiency As an Analyst, you will be expected to: - Meet the needs of stakeholders/customers through specialist advice and support - Perform activities in a timely manner and to a high standard - Take responsibility for specific processes within a team - Lead and supervise a team, guiding professional development and coordinating resources - Demonstrate leadership behaviours to create an environment for colleagues to thrive All colleagues at Barclays are expected to demonstrate the Barclays Values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship.
