Role Overview : We are seeking an experienced Product Manager – Custom Fabrication Head to lead and manage our robotic fabrication and mechanical build programs . This role is critical to ensure the seamless translation of designs into functional, high-quality robotic systems, working closely with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, and operations. Key Responsibilities : Lead the end-to-end fabrication lifecycle for custom robotic and industrial equipment builds. Translate 3D designs into clear fabrication, welding, and assembly plans. Coordinate with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and vendor teams for execution. Plan and manage procurement, vendor follow-ups, and job shop activities. Oversee quality control in welding, machining, sheet metal work, and GD&T compliance. Track project timelines, budgets, and ensure on-time delivery within cost targets. Work with the R&D and Engineering teams to optimize designs for manufacturing. Own the complete lifecycle of robot fabrication – from first cut to final delivery. Required Skills & Qualifications : 6+ years of experience in fabrication, heavy engineering, or robotics structures. Strong expertise in fabrication processes, sheet metal, welding, and machining. Proven track record in handling custom mechanical assemblies and structured BOMs. Proficient in interpreting CAD drawings and manufacturing documents. Experience in vendor management, procurement, and production tracking. Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, and basic tooling used in manufacturing. Key Responsibilities : Lead the design and development of robotic products from concept to manufacturing. Manage and mentor the mechanical design team, ensuring adherence to design best practices and project timelines. Utilize SolidWorks for 3D modeling, motion studies, assembly design, and detailing. Create comprehensive manufacturing-ready drawings, including GD&T, BOMs, and tolerance stack-up analysis. Design for manufacturability with an emphasis on sheet metal, cable routing, assembly optimization, and machined parts. Collaborate closely with the CTO, vendors, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless execution from design to production.
