Job Title: Chemical Testing Engineer
Role & responsibilities Instrumental Analysis (OES): Perform chemical composition analysis using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Prepare metal samples through surface grinding or polishing prior to testing. Conduct daily instrument calibration and validation using Certified Reference Materials (CRM). Ensure OES data accuracy, proper result interpretation, and reporting as per applicable standards (ASTM, IS, ISO). Maintain calibration and maintenance records as per NABL requirements. Corrosion Testing: Execute Salt Spray Testing (SST) as per ASTM B117 / ISO 9227 including setup, monitoring, sample evaluation, and report generation. Perform Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) Testing, pitting, and cyclic corrosion tests as per ASTM A262, ASTM G48, etc. Record corrosion phenomena (e.g., red rust, white rust, coating failure) at defined intervals with photographic evidence. Maintain the corrosion chamber, check pH, temperature, and fog collection per test method, and document observations properly. General Chemical Testing Duties: Conduct wet chemical analysis, titration, and gravimetric methods for metal and alloy constituents (e.g., carbon, sulfur, phosphorus). Prepare standard solutions, reagents, and maintain laboratory chemical inventory. Interpret and validate results to ensure compliance with test specifications and standards. Participate in method validation, uncertainty estimation, and PT/ILC activities as per ISO/IEC 17025. Quality & Documentation: Adhere to NABL Quality Management System and maintain test records, calibration certificates, equipment logbooks, and raw data. Follow and update relevant SOPs, test methods, and work instructions. Support internal audits, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and root cause analysis. Ensure safe laboratory practices and proper disposal of chemical waste. Preferred candidate profile The Chemical Testing Engineer will be responsible for carrying out qualitative and quantitative analysis of metallic materials using wet chemical, instrumental, and corrosion test methods. The role requires strict adherence to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and NABL documentation practices.
