Role Overview We are seeking accomplished Cybersecurity Professionals with 3-6 years of corporate software industry experience to join our mission as an Industry Mentor. This unique role requires a mentor to guide student cohorts through live, industry-standard security operations, risk management, and secure development projects . You will be essential in applying security best practices within the Agile development workflow, ensuring students understand that security is not an afterthought, but an integral part of the workplace way of working. Key Responsibilities You will operate within TrooperCruit's Agile framework system in the Campus as a Workplace model, focusing on the practical implementation of cybersecurity controls and processes. 1. Technical Mentorship & Guidance Project Supervision: Supervise 12-member student cohorts on real-time security problem statements provided by corporate partners (e.g., setting up a mock SOC environment, performing VAPT on a prototype application, developing a compliance framework). Domain Expertise: Provide deep technical guidance in one or more core cybersecurity domains: Application Security (AppSec): OWASP Top 10, SAST/DAST, secure coding principles (DevSecOps integration). Security Operations (SOC): SIEM monitoring, log analysis, incident response (IR) procedures, threat hunting. Vulnerability & Penetration Testing (VAPT): Use of tools like Burp Suite, Nmap, Metasploit, and report generation. Cloud Security: IAM, security group management, and compliance in AWS/Azure/GCP. Standards & Frameworks: Coach students on applying industry security standards and compliance frameworks relevant to corporate partners (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, MITRE ATT&CK ). Tool Mastery: Ensure students gain hands-on experience with real-world security tools and scripting for automation (Python/Shell). 2. Integrated Learning & Agile Culture Agile Security: Work closely with the Junior Scrum Master to embed security activities into the Agile lifecycle , demonstrating how to conduct security sprint planning, manage security backlogs, and remediate vulnerabilities within corporate timelines. Professional Competency: Guide students on the non-technical but critical aspects of corporate security work: Risk Communication: Translating technical vulnerabilities into business-aligned risk statements for stakeholders. Ethics & Integrity: Emphasizing the paramount importance of ethics, integrity, and non-disclosure in the security profession. Workplace Simulation: Coaching students on typical security team rituals like incident response drills and post-mortem reviews. 3. Operational Oversight & Stakeholder Reporting Curriculum Feedback: Provide continuous feedback to TrooperCruit on the effectiveness of the Integrated Workplace Learning Model and suggest adjustments to keep the security curriculum current with emerging threats and technologies. Reporting: Communicate project status, risk exposure of student projects, and performance metrics to TrooperCruit and corporate stakeholders. Batch Supervision: For Full-Time Mentors , take ownership of the overall performance and professional development of assigned student batches, including managing their professional conduct and project sign-offs. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on, professional experience as a Security Analyst, Security Engineer, Penetration Tester, or AppSec Specialist within a corporate software/IT environment. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge across the cybersecurity domain (Network, Endpoint, Application, Cloud). Hands-on experience with relevant security tools and scripting languages. Certification (Strong Plus): Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (Associate), or specific vendor/cloud security certs are highly desirable. Coaching Aptitude: Proven ability or strong desire to teach, mentor, and simplify complex security concepts for early-career professionals or students. Soft Skills: Impeccable professional ethics, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to inspire a sense of ownership and vigilance in students. Education: B.Tech/M.Tech/M.S. in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
