Traffic Surveyor

Job Overview:

A Traffic Surveyor collects, records, and analyzes data related to traffic flow, vehicle types, pedestrian movements, travel patterns, and other transport-related activity. The data gathered is used by urban planners, local authorities, and transport engineers to design safer and more efficient roads and transport systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct manual and/or automated traffic counts at designated locations.
• Observe and record vehicle and pedestrian movements using tally counters, cameras, or data logging equipment.
• Set up and monitor traffic survey equipment (e.g., pneumatic tubes, ANPR cameras, GPS trackers).
• Collect data on vehicle types, speeds, directions, and travel times.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions and at different times, including early mornings or late evenings.
• Ensure accurate data recording and adherence to safety protocols.
• Submit completed data sheets or digital reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Liaise with supervisors and clients to clarify data requirements and locations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• No formal qualifications required; however, a background in data collection or transportation studies is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good time management and reliability.
• Basic knowledge of GPS and data collection tools is a plus.
• Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license may be required for some assignments.

Working Conditions:

• Field-based work, often in urban or roadside environments.
• May involve early starts, late finishes, or overnight work depending on survey type.
• Temporary or project-based roles common, but longer-term positions may be available with transport consultancies or government agencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
