A Die Fitter is a skilled trade worker who assembles, installs, and maintains metal dies used in manufacturing processes, ensuring they function precisely and safely. Key responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, using precision tools like micrometers for accurate measurements and inspections, fitting various die components, conducting tests, performing repairs to maintain die performance, and adhering to safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Assembly & Installation: Carefully assemble and fit various components and inserts of a die according to precise specifications and blueprints. Inspection & Measurement: Use measuring tools like micrometers and steel gauge pins to inspect parts, verify dimensions, and ensure proper alignment and clearances of finished components. Maintenance & Repair: Perform repairs, adjustments, and maintenance on dies to keep them in good working order, optimize their performance, and address wear or defects. Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot problems within dies to find solutions and improve efficiency and safety. Collaboration: Work with engineers and technicians to improve die performance and design. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand die specifications and assembly requirements. Safety & Quality: Adhere to strict safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Key Skills and Qualifications Technical Drawing & Blueprints: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints. Precision Measurement: Expertise in using hand and power tools, especially precision measuring instruments like micrometers. Hand & Power Tools: Ability to operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools for cutting, shaping, and fitting. Knowledge of Dies: Familiarity with different types of dies and tooling equipment. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to identify and solve die-related issues. Manual Dexterity: Exceptional fine motor skills for intricate work with small parts. Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and departments.
