As a Medical Consultant at MetLife, your role involves providing professional medical, technical, and consulting advice to support claims evaluation, investigation, and assessment for various claims-related departments. You will manage a caseload of complex cases, applying specialized training and knowledge to assess cases and serve as a resource on clinical and technical issues. Your responsibilities will include: - Conducting complex research, review, and analysis of medical records, treatment plans, and claim information. - Providing recommendations on claimants" current potential functional abilities and developing goal-focused return-to-work plans. - Assessing training needs, creating, authoring, and presenting medical training to claim and business partner associates. - Engaging with claimants, healthcare providers, employers, and customers to ensure adherence to determining functional abilities. - Collaborating with claimants, healthcare providers, and employers on return-to-work potential and planning, while coaching claim specialists on identifying and acting upon return-to-work potential. - Creating effective requests for medical information focusing on clarifying medical restrictions and limitations and their impact on work functionality. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree in Medical or diploma with a minimum of 15 years of education. - Current RN licensure. - 4+ years of experience as an RN with Clinical/Ops Experience Preferred. - 7+ years of Disability claims and/or clinical experience. - Preferred designations in CCM (Certified Case Management) and/or CDMS (Certified Disability Management Specialist).
