You will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and complex tasks related to the installation and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Providing immediate support during equipment breakdowns or as requested by user departments is crucial. It is essential to document the introduction of new therapeutic and diagnostic equipment, along with corrective and preventive maintenance actions. Being a resource to hospital employees on the proper operation and maintenance of medical equipment is a key part of this role. Assisting the department head in capital equipment planning, identifying obsolete equipment, and recommending replacements are some vital tasks. Ensuring that all incoming biomedical equipment is inspected according to departmental policy is necessary. You will need to notify user departments about repair statuses and collaborate to obtain loaner or replacement equipment when needed. Reporting all patient safety issues to the department head and assisting in issue correction is important. Additionally, conducting functional checks of medical electronic test equipment and performing electrical safety tests on biomedical instrumentation are part of the responsibilities. Maintaining professional appearance and demeanor, prioritizing tasks effectively, and demonstrating concern for planning, time utilization, and cost containment are expected. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, nursing and medical staff, and the public is essential. Keeping accurate documentation, maintenance history records, and preparing reports as required are part of the role. Your duties will also include maintaining a clean and safe workplace, following all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and performing any related tasks as needed. Answering phones, screening calls, delivering messages, and providing information to staff, visitors, and patients are part of the job.
