Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include Design and deliver an exceptional program experience for all stakeholders. Oversee program/project set-up and sustenance with all our projects. Select and train relevant stakeholders such as volunteers, orphanage management, and others as appropriate. Develop, formalize, and monitor adherence to MOUs with all local partners. Build and lead a high-performing, local team. Define roles, evaluate performance, guide learning, and promote a strong team dynamic among the India chapter team. Oversee efficient local operations. Manage all administrative functions related to the India program (budgets, administration, legal compliance). Develop and manage the annual Mumbai budget in alignment with organizational objectives and processes by ensuring monthly/quarterly activity plans are turned in by project leads in advance. Leadership of organization-wide initiatives. Act as primary liaison between the India program and the Chicago office. Translate organization-wide initiatives to effective local programming. Collaborate with other members of the global Program Team to foster organizational learning. As an intern with Bookwallah, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the organization's mission of providing healing and empowerment through storytelling. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting reading sessions for children using an array of storybooks and materials that center around different life values. By sharing the gift of imagination, you will play a crucial role in helping children heal from any past emotional distress they may have encountered. Furthermore, you will foster active listening skills and facilitate open discussions post-storytelling to deepen the impact of the narratives. Innovative and creative storytelling methods will be at the core of your approach. You will utilize diverse techniques such as drama, skits, and interactive activities to make the storytelling sessions dynamic and memorable. Tailoring your tone, format, and delivery to suit the audience, you will ensure a captivating storytelling experience. Additionally, the incorporation of visual aids, props, or multimedia elements will be encouraged to enrich the stories and make them come to life for the children. Collaboration is key at Bookwallah, and you will work closely with the team to plan and execute story narration sessions that align with the organization's Theory of Change. Your input and feedback will be highly valued as you contribute ideas to enhance storytelling strategies and programming continuously. Creating detailed session plans will be an essential part of your role, focusing on value-based stories that are both entertaining and educational. Your plans will be structured, age-appropriate, and adaptable to cater to various group sizes and abilities. Moreover, you will develop pre- and post-session activities that extend the learning beyond the stories, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience for the children. As part of the Story-Sparklers program, you will design activities and initiatives that enhance the overall experience for children based on the shared stories. This will involve creating follow-up crafts, games, or discussion prompts that reinforce the values and messages conveyed in the stories. Monitoring engagement levels and proposing improvements to increase the program's impact will also be part of your responsibilities.
