About Terre des hommes (Tdh) Terre des hommes (Tdh), headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the leading Swiss child relief non-profit organization. For more than six decades, Tdh has worked to protect the most vulnerable children, improving the lives of over five million children and their families each year. The Foundation defends children’s rights regardless of race, creed, or political affiliation. Tdh’s mission is to improve the living conditions of children and youth by providing direct support, advocating for child rights, promoting participation, and strengthening communities and institutions to respond effectively to children’s needs. Present in over 30 countries, Tdh’s interventions span child protection, maternal and child health, WASH, emergency response, and psychosocial support in humanitarian crises. Tdh has been active in India since 1976 and was formally registered as a Liaison Office in 2008. Its programme priorities in India include Unsafe Migration, Maternal and Child Health, WASH, and Emergency Response. Tdh works through local partners in West Bengal and Jharkhand, with plans to expand into other states. Beyond financial support, Tdh provides partners with technical expertise, actively engaging at all stages of project cycles—design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. By working at systemic, community, and policy levels, Tdh ensures that children’s care and protection are sustainable and long-term. About the Project Every year, nearly five million children under the age of five die from preventable and treatable causes. In response, WHO and UNICEF developed the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) strategy in 1995 as an integrated, evidence-based approach to reduce child mortality, prevent illness and disability, and promote child development. To strengthen adherence to IMCI protocols and improve healthcare delivery, Terre des hommes has pioneered the Integrated e-Diagnostic Approach (IeDA). This digital healthcare solution supports frontline health workers in applying WHO/UNICEF clinical guidelines by digitising protocols, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in child health management. IeDA has proven successful in enhancing adherence, improving data quality, and ultimately contributing to child survival outcomes.
