Project Manager – RCC Chimney Construction (Slipform + International Logistics ) Job Title: Project Manager – RCC Chimney Construction (Slipform + International Logistics) Location: Botswana (Project Site) Position Type: Full-Time | Contract-Based / Permanent Job Overview : We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead the construction of 125-meter-high RCC chimneys using slipform technology in Botswana. The role requires complete responsibility for project execution, including planning, procurement, engineering coordination, site supervision, and logistics management for the transport of materials and equipment from India. A critical part of this role is the ability to train, develop, and efficiently utilize local manpower and resources, ensuring knowledge transfer and sustainable development in the host country. Key Responsibilities : 1. Project Execution & Management: - Lead end-to-end construction of 125M high RCC chimneys using slipform technology. - Manage all civil, structural, and MEP workstreams in compliance with design specifications and project timelines. - Monitor construction progress, safety, and quality, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and international standards. 2. Engineering & Planning: - Review engineering drawings, concrete mix designs, slipform operation plans, and formwork systems. - Prepare and manage detailed construction schedules, daily progress reports, and resource plans. - Coordinate with design consultants, QA/QC teams, and independent inspectors. 3. International Logistics (India to Botswana): - Plan and oversee the international shipment of slipform equipment, construction materials, and tools from India to Botswana. - Liaise with Indian vendors, freight forwarders, port authorities, and customs agents. - Ensure smooth clearance, inland transport, and timely delivery of critical materials to the project site. 4. Training & Local Resource Utilization: - Recruit, train, and build capacity among locally available workforce, including skilled and unskilled labor. - Implement structured training programs for slipform operation, safety, quality control, and concrete handling. - Promote sustainable development by integrating local suppliers, transporters, and service providers wherever feasible. 5. Stakeholder & Client Coordination: - Act as the primary liaison with clients, consultants, and statutory bodies in Botswana. - Conduct project review meetings, resolve technical and commercial issues, and prepare progress presentations. - Maintain clear documentation of all site activities, contract correspondence, and project milestones. Qualifications : - B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (mandatory); M.Tech or MBA in Construction/Project Management (preferred). - Minimum 15 years of experience in civil project execution with at least 7 years in chimney construction using slipform technology. - Previous experience in international project logistics and customs documentation, especially from India to Africa. - Proven record of working with multi-national and multicultural teams in Africa or similar geographies. Key Skills: - Expertise in slipform systems and RCC chimney construction methods. - Strong understanding of international shipping, Incoterms, customs regulations, and port handling procedures. - Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to train and mentor local teams, promote safety culture, and optimize resource utilization. Certifications (Preferred): - PMP® – Project Management Professional - OSHA / NEBOSH – Safety Certifications Work Conditions: - Full-time presence at project site in Botswana with occasional travel to India or vendor locations. - Must be adaptable to remote site conditions and able to work with limited local infrastructure. - Commitment to building local capacity and delivering project outcomes within defined cost and timeframes
