We are seeking a passionate and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with strong expertise in sheet metal design, SolidWorks, and GD&T. The ideal candidate should have a deep interest in product development, excellent communication skills, and a drive to innovate and create high-quality mechanical solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, primarily using SolidWorks. Create and manage sheet metal designs with a focus on manufacturability and cost-efficiency. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure precision and compliance with standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, and quality engineering. Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and prototype evaluations. Prepare detailed engineering drawings and documentation. Support product lifecycle from concept to production. Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in product development. Proficiency in SolidWorks (including sheet metal module). Strong understanding of GD&T, ASME Y14.5 standards. Experience with DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Passion for creating innovative products and solving engineering challenges. Preferred / Additional Skills: PLM/PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Windchill). Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools like ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation. 3D printing / rapid prototyping experience. Knowledge of materials (metals, plastics, composites). Basic electrical/mechatronics understanding for integrated product design. Project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project). ERP systems familiarity (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma awareness. Cost estimation and BOM creation. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. Ability to work independently and in a team. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Adaptability and eagerness to learn new technologies.
