About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead / Solution Lead / Data Architect / Staff Engineer / Principal Architect to join our engineering team.This role requires a highly skilled technologist with a strong background in Python backend development, API design, and Data Engineering, along with hands-on experience in cloud platforms (preferably GCP).You will lead technical solution design, guide engineering teams, and contribute to building high-scalability, cloud-native applications and data pipelines.This is a critical P4-level role involving 80% software development + solution design, and 20% data engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Leadership :
- Lead solution architecture and end-to-end technical design for medium to complex projects.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, providing leadership on design patterns, coding standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, business, and platform teams.
Backend Engineering & API Development
- Build and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
- Develop, integrate, and secure APIs; experience with REST, OAuth2, JWT, Swagger, and API gateways (e.g., Apigee).
- Contribute to re-platforming, modernization, and cloud migration projects.
Data Engineering
- Design and build robust data pipelines and data models.
- Work with SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, or equivalent cloud data platforms.
DevOps & Agile
- Work within CI/CD environments using tools like GitHub Actions, Airflow, or similar.
- Follow Agile/DevSecOps methodologies and contribute to process improvements.
Must-Have
Required Skills & Experience :
- 10+ years of overall experience, with 2+ years in solution architecture or technical leadership roles.
- Strong Python backend programming experience and API development skills.
- Solid experience in Data Engineering and building scalable data solutions.
- Hands-on experience with GCP, including BigQuery (or willingness to quickly ramp up).
- Strong experience with REST API principles, API security (OAuth2/JWT), and documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).
- Strong SQL skills, including stored procedures and optimization.
Nice To Have
- Experience with API Gateway tools such as Apigee.
- Exposure to cloud migrations, re-platforming, or modernization projects.
- Experience working with distributed teams in Agile environments.
- Experience mentoring developers or leading engineering teams.
Green Flags For Ideal Candidates
- 10+ years of experience, with architecture/design exposure.
- Hands-on GCP experience, especially BigQuery.
- Experience in API integration & security (OAuth2, JWT, Apigee).
- Strong data modeling & performance tuning skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
Red Flags
- Less than 5 years of experience or no leadership exposure.
- No cloud experience or only theoretical understanding.
- Only basic REST knowledge without API building experience.
- Generic analytics experience without data modeling exposure.
- No experience mentoring teams (pure individual contributor).
