Technical Expert - Carbon Project Development

As a Technical Expert in Carbon Project Development, you will be responsible for leading the development of a diverse portfolio of carbon projects. Your role will involve authoring high-quality project documentation, guiding the validation and verification process, and providing mentorship to a team of junior developers. If you have a deep understanding of Biochar, Afforestation/Reforestation/Revegetation, or Transport methodologies and are passionate about driving meaningful climate action, this position is tailored for you. Your primary responsibilities will include serving as the lead technical authority throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility assessment to credit issuance. You will personally craft and refine Project Descriptions and Design Documents, manage Validation and Verification processes, and ensure compliance with carbon accounting methodologies. Additionally, you will mentor the team, conduct technical due diligence on new projects, and monitor regulatory standards to uphold project quality and innovation. To qualify for this role, you should hold a degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Engineering, Climate Science, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in developing carbon projects. Proficiency in authoring Project Descriptions for standards like Verra (VCS) or Gold Standard, as well as a strong grasp of VVB requirements and audit procedures, are essential. Expertise in Biochar, ARR, or Transport sectors, along with excellent quantitative skills and communication abilities, will be key to your success. If you have previously worked with a VVB, have knowledge of diverse carbon project types, or possess an advanced degree in a relevant field, it would be considered a plus.
