Are you a graduate looking for a challenging yet highly rewarding project? The Extreme Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC) is a joint UK-India innovation initiative aimed at developing technology for next-generation accelerators using lasers. Funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), this £4 million centre is jointly established between UK’s Central Laser Facility (CLF) and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). The CLF at the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), is a world-leader in the next- generation laser technology that can drive compact accelerators yielding bright particle and x-ray beams that, in the near future, can transform imaging capabilities in industry and medicine. TIFR has been pursuing intense laser science over the past two decades and has unraveled many unique features in this field. As part of EPIC Project, we are building a novel microscope for cancer detection. The project is a collaboration between TIFR Hyderabad, TMC Mumbai and STFC UK. It will provide an opportunity to participate in genuine cutting edge research. It will provide valuable research experience in the area of bioengineering, bioimaging and photonics. It will be perfect for someone planning for a career in this area (e.g. someone planning to apply for an industry position or Ph.D. degree in a leading institution). Role Description This is a temporary role for a Project Engineer - Instrumentation at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Hyderabad. The Project Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining instrumentation system of novel microscope used in research. Day-to-day tasks may include conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing data, collaborating with researchers, and providing technical support. This is an on-site role and requires presence in Hyderabad. Essentials Laboratory Skills and ability to conduct research and experiments Has experience in instrument control and data acquisition software Preferably someone with LabView proficiency He/she should have a B.Tech. /M. Tech./M.Sc. degree (or awaiting such a degree). The salary should be commensurate with degree, ability and experience. The end date of the project will be till March 31, 2026
