Location: Chandpura (near Tohana, Haryana) The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and fabrication tasks required for the development of mechanical systems. This role will involve spending a significant amount of time at the test site, as well as a hands-on approach to operating and maintaining mechanical machines. The position will involve a mix of machine operation, outdoor hardware testing, field travel, machine assembly, and mechanical maintenance or fitting tasks. Prior experience in similar roles is highly desirable. Responsibilities Performing basic mechanical maintenance and testing of mechanical components Operating the Takachar R&D machine (comprehensive advanced training will be provided) Being comfortable with basic metal fabrication tools and procuring standard parts Demonstrating strong communication skills by effectively raising issues to higher authorities and showing a problem-solving mindset at the quickest and safest manner Desirable skills and experience Relevant experience of approximately 3-5 years ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Willingness and prior experience of being hands-on in product development. This position will be a blend of machine operation, outdoors testing of hardware and field travel, machine assembly, mainly mechanical jobs Knowledge of and hands-on experience with various fabrication processes: welding (all types), cutting, grinding, and finishing (while expertise in all is not required, prior experience is preferred) Mechanical fitting and assembly/sub-assembly skills Whats in it for you? We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Operational Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and optimization of field-scale engineering systems (e.g., pyrolysis or biomass conversion units). This role involves leading on-site experiments, gathering and analyzing data, and working closely with R&D and product teams to improve system performance and reliability.You will play a critical role in ensuring that real-world operations align with design specifications, and help innovate improvements based on field conditions Operational Duties Install, operate, and maintain field-scale experimental reactors or systems (e.g., biomass conversion units). Monitor real-time system performance (temperature, pressure, flow rates, emissions, etc.) Conduct day to day experiments for MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) . Troubleshoot mechanical, or process-related issues. Coordinate with field teams, technicians, and external partners. Experimental & R&D Support Plan and help in experimental trials under varied operating conditions. Collect, organize, and analyse data from sensors and manual measurements. Document observations, anomalies, and engineering logs. Suggest and test hardware or process modifications to improve performance. Reporting & Feedback Create technical reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders. Provide feedback to design and fabrication teams on performance issues. Maintain detailed records of operational hours, material usage, and safety issues. Key Skills & Qualifications: Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or Energy Engineering or equivalent. Technical Skills: Basic subject knowledge of Mechanical, Thermal and combustion systems. Basic Knowledge about the mechanical instruments used for the experimental purpose. Familiarity with data logging, sensor calibration, and experimental design. Working knowledge of CAD, SolidWorks, or process simulation tools (optional but preferred). Comfort with using basic hand tools, fabrication techniques, and troubleshooting systems. Soft Skills: Field-readiness and willingness to work in rural or semi-industrial environments. Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Bonus (Preferred but Not Mandatory): Prior experience in rural projects. Familiarity with testing protocols. Exposure to lean manufacturing or low-cost fabrication.
