Switchgear / Substation Estimator

Job Description: As a Switchyard Estimator/Substation Estimator (Electrical), your main responsibility will be to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for substation projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates align with project goals and requirements. It will also be your duty to identify potential risks and opportunities within the estimating process and to maintain and update historical cost data and estimating tools. Additionally, you will participate in pre-bid meetings, provide mentorship to junior estimators, and visit project sites to gather information. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services for substation projects - Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to develop accurate and complete estimates - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and requirements - Identify potential risks and opportunities within the estimating process to inform decision-making - Maintain and update historical cost data and estimating tools to reflect current market conditions and project learnings - Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather information - Provide guidance and support to junior estimators and team members, fostering professional development Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field - Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years in substation or switchyard estimating, with a strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and construction practices - Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Primavera, Bluebeam) and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel - Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively,
