Your responsibilities go beyond basic dispensing — you're involved in clinical decision-making, patient care, drug safety, and managing inventory and compliance with healthcare regulations. Key Roles & Responsibilitie / Clinical Duties Review prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness. Monitor patients’ responses to medications and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Provide drug information to doctors and nurses. Suggest alternative medications in case of shortages or interactions. Dispensing & Counseling Dispense medicines as per doctor’s prescriptions. Advise patients on dosage, possible side effects, and drug interactions. Provide guidance on use of IV medications, injections, and controlled substances Inventory & Stock Management Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of drugs. Ensure availability of essential and emergency medicines. Check for expired/near-expiry drugs and manage returns or disposals. * Regulatory & Documentation Maintain pharmacy records and audit trails (Schedule H, H1, X drugs). Ensure compliance with NABH, JCI, or local accreditation standards. Handle internal and external audits of pharmacy services. Team Supervision Train and supervise junior pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. Coordinate with nursing and medical staff on medication-related queries. Participate in clinical rounds (in some hospitals).
