Description
Key Responsibilities:Patient Care: Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing general, orthopedic, urological, gastrointestinal, or other surgeries. Monitor patients’ vital signs, pain levels, wound sites, and overall post-operative recovery. Administer medications, IV therapies, blood transfusions, and manage drains, catheters, and other post-surgical devices. Perform dressing changes, wound care, and prevent or manage surgical site infections. Patient Assessment & Documentation: Conduct detailed pre-op and post-op assessments. Monitor for signs of complications such as bleeding, infection, or thromboembolism. Document care provided, assessments, medications, and any incidents in line with hospital policies and legal requirements. Communication & Coordination: Liaise with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other specialists to coordinate patient care. Provide education and emotional support to patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, pain management, and discharge plans. Safety & Infection Control: Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols. Monitor patients for adverse reactions or deterioration and escalate appropriately. Participate in safety audits and incident reporting. Teamwork & Supervision: Collaborate effectively with nursing colleagues and multidisciplinary staff. Support junior nurses, student nurses, and healthcare assistants. Attend handovers, contribute to ward rounds, and support efficient shift transitions.
