As a Surface Designer at The Murphy Studio, you will play a crucial role in creating unique surface and pattern designs that blend modern design sensibilities with traditional art influences. Your keen eye for detail, strong visual storytelling skills, and passion for transforming concepts into commercial-ready design pieces will be essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: - Conceptualize and develop original surface and pattern designs for wallpapers, art prints, and related dcor products. - Create repeat patterns and explore variations in color, texture, and scale. - Develop mood boards, themes, and concept presentations aligned with the studio's seasonal direction. - Collaborate closely with the founder and design team to evolve design stories and visual narratives. - Refine, digitize, and prepare artwork files for production and printing. - Research design trends, materials, and art movements for inspiration and innovation. - Maintain a structured digital archive of artworks, colorways, and iterations. - Coordinate with vendors and production partners for sampling, color proofing, and print approvals. Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, Textile Design, Graphic Design, or related field. - Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate. - Strong sense of color theory, layout, scale, and motif development. - Understanding of surface pattern repeats (manual or digital). - Interest in Indian art, craft traditions, and design history is a plus. - Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines.
