Job Title: Accountant Job Overview: The Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role involves analyzing financial data, preparing budgets, and providing strategic financial guidance to ensure the organization’s financial stability and growth. Key Responsibilities: 1. Financial Reporting: • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements). • Generate periodic management reports to support decision-making. 2. Budgeting and Forecasting: • Develop and monitor budgets. • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures and provide recommendations. 3. Accounts Management: • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes. • Reconcile bank statements and maintain general ledger accounts. 4. Tax and Compliance: • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local regulations. • Ensure adherence to financial laws and company policies. 5. Auditing and Internal Controls: • Assist in internal and external audits. • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial assets. 6. Payroll Administration: • Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate employee compensation. 7. Software and Systems: • Use accounting software to maintain records and generate reports. • Optimize existing financial systems and recommend improvements. Core Responsibilities a. Financial Transactions & Records Recording all purchase and sales transactions (local & international). Managing accounts payable (suppliers) and accounts receivable (customers). Monitoring inventory-related accounting — especially perishable goods. Tracking costs such as transport, storage, and customs duties. b. Banking & Payments Preparing supplier payments and reconciling bank statements. Handling foreign currency transactions if importing/exporting food products. c. Cost & Profit Analysis Calculating product cost sheets (including freight, import duty, and wastage). Monitoring gross margins and profitability per product category. d. Compliance & Reporting Preparing VAT / sales tax returns as per local regulations. Generating monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statements. Coordinating with auditors for annual audits. e. Budgeting & Forecasting Preparing sales forecasts and expense budgets. Monitoring actual performance against budget.
