As an Engineer at Apple, you will be part of a team that designs state-of-the-art calibration and test ecosystems for manufacturing Apple hardware products. Your responsibilities will involve developing and characterizing metrology equipment used to calibrate and test Apple's groundbreaking technology and products. You will be engaged in automated measurement system development and optimization, from ideation to deployment. Your role will include detailed mechanical design of manual and automated measurement and calibration systems, component and materials selection, 3D/2D CAD, mechanism design, and FEA. Collaboration with vendors to enhance manufacturing and metrology capabilities, as well as managing vendor prototyping schedules and manufacturing plans, will be key aspects of your job. Supporting new product failure analysis and continuous improvements in product manufacturability and performance will be crucial for ensuring the production of high-quality products. You will also play a role in expanding Apple's vendor base by supporting new vendor development efforts. To qualify for this role, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Aerospace / Mechatronics) or equivalent experience. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling systems, application of GD&T principles, and a good understanding of stress-strain relationships and static mechanics are essential. Knowledge of kinematics and mechanism design is also required. International travel of up to 25% may be necessary to support equipment design, deployment, and validation. Preferred qualifications include experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing equipment design, UG NX proficiency, FEA stress analysis skills (preferably using ANSYS), and knowledge of plastic part design and metal materials science. Project and product management experience is strongly preferred.
