The role requires you to lead multiple projects through a team to deliver within tight timeframes and deadlines. You will be responsible for leading tax engagements, effectively managing the team on submissions, assessments, and appeal hearings before the CIT(A) and Tribunals. Building and nurturing effective working relationships with tax authorities, business and functional heads, and ensuring close involvement of local and international tax teams and external service providers is also a key part of the role. You will lead fee negotiations and discussions on the scope for business across clientele, steer tax risk management and assurance processes, and ensure strict adherence to SOPs. Performing required business intelligence, staying abreast of industry best practices in direct tax, technical transfer pricing solutions, and policies will be crucial. Proactively advising clients on strategic issues, providing them with a perspective on global trends, and emerging practices significant to their business operations are part of the responsibilities. Identifying business opportunities with new/existing clients, building key account relationships, and enhancing the firm's market visibility and client experience through strong independent relationships with clients are important aspects of the role. You will also be responsible for training the immediate line of managers in propagating a culture of identifying business potential, cross-selling other products of the firm besides direct tax, through strong internal and external networking. As the custodian of quality and delivery and a team mentor, ensuring compliance with all aspects of direct taxation will be a key responsibility. The ideal candidate should have 15+ years of post-qualification experience in direct tax, with a background of leading CA/Advisory firms.
